music festival 2018

Saturday August 11th, 2018

Free admission ❀ Camping available for musicians

All musicians welcome to perform and Jam

It is becoming difficult to describe what the simple idea that the “music fest” once was,... has  actually evolved into. What once was two guitar hobbyists on the deck with a beer has become two days of chaos, people, boats, beer, and most of all,... incredibly wonderful music.

The 2017 edition of the Shoal Bay Music Festival was, by all accounts, “the best yet”. The weather was rainy, the crowd was the biggest yet, and again, the music was amazing.

every year we get a spectacular combination of both amateur and professional musicians from all over the world..

Steve from Quadra, Jon Whittingham from Victoria, David, who not only plays guitar and drums but does a great job as emcee, and the amazing David P. Smith. Amazing talent all of them and all of them here in beautiful Shoal Bay.

Every year, new music just floats in from who knows where. The music festival is becoming a real summer happening, and it just keeps getting better and better.

The festival is open to all musicians who wish to perform and there is no charge to attend. The only enforced rule (we are not good with rules here) is that all alcoholic beverages be bought at the “Shoal Bay Pub”. You are encouraged to bring food for yourselves as well as any non-alcohol drink. There is always dinner prepared and available on the Saturday. However all beer, wine, and spirits must be purchased at the pub. You are welcome to enjoy your own beverages of any type at the dock and on your boats.  Just no booze brought to the pub property.

And for all of you who have been asking, the guy selling pot under the tree last year was a private contractor. We hope that he will be back too.

So mark your calendar and make your travel plans for Saturday August 11th, 2018. It promises to be a wonderful day.

With enough interest, arrangements can be made to provide affordable transportation  between Shoal Bay and Campbell River via chartered water-taxi as well as a possible chartered bus service that will pick up on Friday at the Victoria and Nanaimo ferry docks, connect with the water taxi and then return on the Sunday. If interested in such a service or if you have any other questions please email us at shoalbay@mac.com

Any persons interested in playing at the festival please contact Tim Pare at timothypare57@gmail.com and Tim will add you to the list and make sure that you get a slot..
